A Sad Weekend
This has been a sad weekend for people in Toronto. First off, a young Chinese was killed by a “customer” requesting some refund at a famous Chinese Mall. Two people were killed in two fatal accidents. My condolence goes to their family in all incidents. I don’t understand the first incident which is totally nonsense. People got killed because of some disputes? I hope this coward will step up to face the justice. Imagine this happen to his own family (which I don’t think he will ever have one), how much grief and sadness will left for the rest of the family to suffer…..

Winter sports
I used to ski a lot when I was teenager. I found that wasn’t a big deal and I m
anaged to stay in one piece after my first try, that was 1982. Now 27 years later when I saw my son started snowboarding, I have an urge to go back my time and learn this new trick by an old dog. He, being a 9 years old boy, learned this in 3 lessons. He is now able to ski down the hill without falling down. My mind said, no big deal, see what daddy can do. We went for a ski trip last Sunday at a nearby resort. This is the first time I ski with him side by side. Now I realized that snowboarding and skiing is two different tricks. They dress different, they move different and they even fall different. After witnessing him struggled at the beginning and fell a few time face first, I second thought my decision of doing that. I have to first dress like one snowboarder, ie, baggy and colorful outfit. I can manage that. Second, able to tolerate other “kids” zipping by me while I am cleaning up the snow on my mouth from my fall, that one will be hard to stomach. I have since put this decision temporary into the vault, may be forever. I think being a “cool” guy has a price to pay and I don’t think I can afford any broken bone in my body. I am staying with my skis.

My excuse
I can't believe it is almost a year since I last update my blog. I feel shame that this place has been deserted for so long. I feel I betrayed the usage of this technology world...sorry...that’s a bit too much. My friend just inspired me to get back to this thing again and I hope to do this in a regular basis. I am thinking of doing the "A Photo A day" thing for a year but I don't know if I can keep up. Anyway, I am sure the more I see my friend doing this, the better I can keep up with the update. Stay tune.

When did I start?

I can't hardly remember when I first held a camera. However, I did remember it was a Canon QL17. I think this is one of the most popular camera a that time. It was belong to my dad and I got to use it because I am the only one interested. I must be around 8 or 9 years old when I was fascinated by the photos of the Macao Grand Prix, I was born in Macao by the way. The speed of the car and the capture on the newspaper encouraged me to ask my dad. I didn't know why my dad let me do that as I was only 8 years old. I wouldn't let my son, now 9, to touch my camera :-). He let me used real film and took real pictures. He also took me to the grand prix (as matter of fact, we went there every year). I took some shoots, obvious with my own finger to wind and focus, I was disappointed with my shots. It's not the same as those on the newspaper. However, I must admit that I did a good job simply because all the cars were in the picture. It was a good thrill for me that year. The smell of the gasoline, the heat of the sun, eating my snack at the grand stand. Those memories still coming out once in a while. The only car I knew at that time was #66 Pun Bin Lak. He was one of the most famous car racer (formula) from Hong Kong.
Since then, I became the designated camera man for family outing. I don't know if my parents still have any of those photos I took. I highly doubt that especially the race car. I remember I kept that in one of my text book as a book mark and showed that to my buddy at school.

March break
This is the time of the year again the kids take over the house from school. It has been fun watching the boys getting older every year and how much they grew. It wasn't long since both of them were still struggling to walk. Now they are starting to run with you all the time. This is one of the main reason I got my DSLR. Capturing their growth is one of my main task especially I hardly remember what they look like 12 months ago :-). I took a lot of photos during the last few days but most of those are casual pictures. I don't like them to sit still to pose for me, rather, I like to capture their lively moment. Will post some here once scan thought all the photos. Then once again, March break is always one of the busiest period for parents.

New start
I am going to my second run of putting up a BLOG. I did that before but quickly gave up because I am not the type of people like to write. This time, I want to use picture to replace my words. We just had a huge snow storm over the weekend. The aftermath is a big pile of snow blocking everything. The flip side is you have a winter wonderland. See my slide show of my capture around my neighborhood. Enjoy.
